DEFTONES ENTER AT #2, K-POP DEMON HUNTERS HOLD AT #1
While the K-Pop Demon Hunters hold firm at #1 on both the Top 40 Singles and Albums Charts, veteran US alt-rock band Deftones lead the pack of new arrivals on the Albums Chart, landing at #2 with private music just ahead of Icelandic jazz sensation Laufey at #3 with A Matter Of Time. There are no fewer than 11 new albums on this week's Chart, arriving from all corners of the globe.
Not to be outdone, the home flag is also well and truly waved on the Top 40 as Don McGlashan & Anita Clark land at #11 – also cracking the #1 position on the Top 20 Aotearoa Albums Chart. Their live album Take It To The Bridgeis joined by new entries from KORA at #23, and the return of Nelson electronica act Minuit with their vinyl reissue of 2003's The 88 at #25.
On the Hot 40 Chart, Californian singer/songwriter Doja Cat notches her sixth #1 with her new single ‘Jealous Type’. The Aotearoa Hot 20 is topped by another brand new tune, ‘Home’, a collaboration between Kirikiriroa reggae band Son & Water and another Hamilton-born artist – though these days he calls Hawaii home – R&B sensation Myshaan.
Over on the Tukutahi Te Reo Māori Tiketike 10, ‘Tōku Reo Tōku Ohooho’ by Te Tira Waiata o Te Pukawai holds firm at #1. The single has never been out of the Chart’s Top 5 since it first charted 40 weeks ago.
