LORDE ENTERS THE TOP 40 AT #1, WITH 'WHAT WAS THAT'
Lorde leads the Top 40 this week with her comeback track 'What Was That'. It's the first solo material from the superstar since Solar Power in 2021, and the first single from her forthcoming record Virgin.
The tune is Lorde’s fourth Top 40 #1, more than any other NZ artist. ‘What Was That’ also lands at #1 on the Aotearoa Top 20, and both the Hot 40 and Aotearoa Hot 20 – while ‘Ribs’ is at #1 on the Aotearoa Catalogue Singles Chart, and Pure Heroine is at #1 on the Aotearoa Catalogue Albums Chart.
It’s a fitting start to Te Marama Puoro o Aotearoa | NZ Music Month, and a great way to mark today's anniversary of 50 years of the Official Music Charts in Aotearoa.
