About the Charts

The Official Aotearoa Music Charts reflect the most popular singles and albums in Aotearoa each week. They are the only charts endorsed by the music industry and are compiled according to globally recognised guidelines.

The Charts are compiled by Recorded Music NZ and published at 4pm every Friday – the first to be published in the world each week.

The Official Aotearoa Music Charts are based on data from a wide range of physical and digital retailers, audio and video streaming services and other outlets (such as gig sales).

As well as the Top 40 Singles and Album Charts, Recorded Music NZ also publishes the:

- Top 20 Aotearoa Singles and Albums Charts

- Top 10 Te Reo Māori Singles Charts

- Hot 40 Singles and Hot 20 Aotearoa Singles Charts

- Catalogue and Aotearoa Catalogue Charts

Chart Submissions

If you're a music retailer or streaming provider and would like to regularly submit data for the Official Aotearoa Music Charts, please email data@recordedmusic.co.nz

If you’re an artist and would like to submit one-off gig sales or other direct-to-fan sales not provided automatically via retailers (including Bandcamp), please do so using this form

Anyone submitting data to the Aotearoa Charts will need to comply with the Chart Rules

Certifications

Gold and Platinum certifications are awarded once a release hits our qualifying thresholds, which are based on chart-eligible retail sales (physical and digital) and paid stream equivalent data.
