NOAH KAHAN HOLDS AT #1 ON ALBUMS TOP 40, ADAM MCGRATH LEADS AOTEAROA TOP 20 WITH UNION TRIBUTE
Noah Kahan holds at #1 on the Albums Chart for a second week, with The Great Divide. Olivia Dean keeps Ella Langley and ‘Choosin’ Texas’ at bay to claim a 31st week at #1 on the Singles Top 40 with ‘Man I Need’.
2024 Best Folk Artist Tūī winner Adam McGrath comes out of nowhere to claim the top spot on the Aotearoa Albums Chart, with his latest release, Wrecker Songs. Also frontman for Lyttelton baddies The Eastern, McGrath’s record is described as “a traditional folk tribute to the 75th anniversary of the Maritime Union of New Zealand, featuring songs inspired by the lives of seafarers, watersiders, and their communities." His recent Ōtautahi and Ōtepoti shows were fittingly packed out by members of the Maritime Union. The album also lands at #4 on the Top 40 Albums Chart, behind Olivia Dean’s The Art Of Loving (#3).
Te Wehi enters the Chart at #2 with his much-anticipated debut album, I’m Home. The artist continues to lead the Aotearoa Singles Chart with Hori Shaw collab ‘Ready To Ride’, and he also takes the top spot on the Aotearoa Hot 20 with ‘Dreams’ – his tenth #1 on the Chart, and eighth as a solo artist.
Te Matatini & Te Kuru Marutea continue to lead the Te Reo Chart with ‘Kei Wareware i a Tātou’. Chris Brown tops the Hot 40 with ‘Fallin’ feat. Leon Thomas.
