Olivia Delivers Again, Beastwars Arrive By Sea
Olivia Dean’s breakout hit ‘Man I Need’ claims a 7th week at #1 on the Top 40, while The Art Of Loving also holds firm at the top of the Albums Chart. It's the third week Olivia has held both #1s simultaneously.
Over on the Aotearoa Top 20 Albums Chart, it's a been a tight battle this week between new releases from two very different local acts – Pōneke metallers Beastwars and award-winning pop star BENEE. In the end, Beastwars take the lead on the Chart, which also sees the return – for the first time on vinyl – of now-classic albums from Pluto and Head Like a Hole. The Ship // The Sea is Beastwars’ sixth album to make the Aotearoa Top 20, and their fourth to top it. It also lands at #4 on the Top 40 Albums Chart, their fifth album in a row to debut in the Top 5.
But BENEE doesn’t miss out! ‘Princess’, from the artist’s second studio album Ur An Angel I'm Just Particles, has its moment on the Aotearoa Hot 20. It's the artist’s 15th song to top that chart, tying her with DRAX Project. Only Six60 has more Hot Chart-toppers (17).
On the Hot 40, Japanese-Australian artist Joji lands his second #1 with ‘Past Won't Leave My Bed’. His first, ‘Glimpse Of Us’, topped the Chart back in 2022.
Hori Shaw And Te Wehi continue their run atop the Top 20 Aotearoa Singles Chart with ‘Ready To Ride’, and Te Tira Waiata o Te Pukawai extend their run on the Top 10 Te Reo Māori Chart with ‘Tōku Reo Tōku Ohooho’.
