OLIVIA'S RUN CONTINUES, TRIGGAR HAPPY PUTS COUNTRY HIP HOP BACK ON TOP
Olivia Dean has been on a roll in the charts worldwide over the last few months, but nowhere has the reception to her new album been quite like in Aotearoa.
The UK neo-soul star, who was across the ditch this week to perform at Wednesday's ARIA Awards, currently has four Top 10 songs in NZ. ‘Man I Need’ hits an eighth week at #1 on the Top 40, tying it with KPop Demon Hunters for the second-longest running #1 of 2025, while The Art Of Loving notches up a fourth week at #1 on the Top 40 Albums Chart. Also for a fourth week, Dean tops both Top 40s simultaneously.
The enigma that is Ōtorohanga-based country-hip hop cowboy Triggar Happy is back at #1 in the Aotearoa Albums Chart with a new album, Love Loyalty Respect. The LP follows up 2024's Talk Is Cheap, which also topped the Aotearoa Top 20 Albums Chart for three weeks. His new album debuts at #1, holding out strong competition from former Mocker Andrew Fagan – currently touring his Passage Of Time album around the country – at #2, and rowdy Aucklanders Dick Move who land at #3 with Dream, Believe, Achieve.
The Hot 40 is led this week by US rapper Nathan Feuerstein, better known to his fans by his initials, NF. ‘FEAR’ is taken from the 34-year-old's latest EP of the same name, which enters at #14 on this week's Albums Chart.
Local DJ duo Lee Mvtthews (Tom Lee and Graham Matthews) and South London-born vocalist Kelli-Leigh grab the #1 spot on the Aotearoa Hot 20 with ‘Ride The Energy’. It's the sixth Hot Chart #1 for the drum n bass maestros.
Te Tira Waiata o Te Pukawai maintain the #1 on the Tukutahi Te Reo Māori Tiketike 10 with ‘Tōku Reo Tōku Ohooho’ while Hori Shaw and Te Wehi do the same atop the Top 20 Aotearoa Singles Chart as ‘Ready To Ride’ extends its chart-topping run to 14 weeks. Only Hori's solo track ‘Back In My Arms’ has spent longer at #1 in 2025.
