SON & WATER MAKE WAVES WHILE OLIVIA'S SHIP SAILS ON

Olivia Dean does it again, taking out the top spots on both the Top40 Singles and Albums Charts with Man I Need and The Art Of Loving respectively. She's held the double a remarkable 20 weeks now, off and on, since the album dropped in September 2025.

Hamilton-based Son & Water, aka singer Daimond Porima-Ferguson and his father, Kiwi reggae legend Jamey Ferguson (co-founder of Katchafire), have been on quite the chart run in the last year. With five Aotearoa Top20 and one Te Reo Māori Top10 appearances since January 2025, they add another this week with their reggae-infused take on The Eagles' classic Hotel California. The song tops both the Hot40 Singles and Aotearoa Hot20 Singles, and enters the Aotearoa Top20 at #2, just behind fellow reggae champions Hori Shaw and Te Wehi who return to the top spot with Ready To Ride.

Elsewhere, The Beths shoot up the charts as they wrap up their national tour. Straight Line Was A Lie is back to #2 just behind chart-toppers Six60 who notch a seventh week at #1, while three of The Beths' earlier albums return to the local Catalogue Albums Chart.

Check out David Shanhun and Shimna Higgins who make their Aotearoa Top20 Albums debut with their live album of folk, recorded at the very cool House With No Nails near Matamata.

Te Matatini And Te Kuru Marutea chalk up another week atop the Tukutahi Tiketike 10 Te Reo Māori with their song Kei Wareware I A Tātou.
