KPOP DEMON HUNTERS RETURN TO #1 ON ALBUMS & SINGLES CHARTS
The KPop Demon Hunters continue to rule the Charts this week. Helped by the arrival of a deluxe edition featuring 21 new singalong, instrumental and a cappella versions of songs from the film, the soundtrack returns to the apex of the Top 40 Albums Chart, while ‘Golden’ holds firm at #1 on the Singles Chart for an eighth week.
The Top 20 Aotearoa Charts both get a change of leader this week, albeit in the form of returning titles. Hori Shaw is back to #1 with ‘Back In My Arms’ after a gap of eight weeks while The Six60 Collection slips back into pole position on the local Albums list. There are three new entries to the Top 10 though, Julia Deans with a reissue of Modern Fables (#4), Pickle Darling with Bots (#5), and Scribe’s long awaited farewell album Scribe Is Dead lands at #6.
English neo-soul singer Olivia Dean also makes a return to #1, climbing to the top of the Hot 40 Chart with ‘Man I Need’. The track first topped the Hot Chart when it was released four weeks ago.
Meanwhile ‘Tōku Reo Tōku Ohooho’ by Te Tira Waiata o Te Pukawai remains at #1 on the Top 10 Te Reo Māori Chart.
For those looking for something brand new though, hop on over to the Aotearoa Hot 20 Chart, where you’ll find Mr Fantasy. Having initially confused the internet with his self-titled debut single, Mr Fantasy has been unmasked and revealed to be the alter ego of Waitakere-born actor / painter / musician KJ Apa. You may remember KJ from such global entertainment blockbusters as Riverdale, A Dog's Purpose, I Still Believe and Shortland Street.
